WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP LOCAL FINISHERS
The
curtain has come down on the 2008 United States Bowling Congress Women’s
Championship in
In
team event the Girlfriends team captained by Martha Slaughter of Rochester Hills
finished in fifth place in Division I with a three-game total of 2,675. Other
members of the team were Darlene Powell, Yvonne Moore, Linda Raspberry and
Carole Vinson of
Finishing
25th in Division I team was the Ladies Night Out 2 team from
Clique
I of Oak Park including captain Darlene Pippins of Oak Park, Sheila Temple of
Romulus, Jo Ann Jones of Detroit, Sylvia Banks of Detroit and Vivian Gibson of
Pontiac finished 45th in Division I team with 2,563.
Also
finishing in the top 100 in Division I team was Cross Country Bowlers with
2,519. Team captain Debra Martin of Waterford Township was joined by Carol Owens
of Waterford Township, Sandra Geoit of Michigamme, Cathy Teague of Waterford
Township and Carol Davis of Lake Orion.

Five
teams finished in the top 100 of Division III team event.
In
ninth place was Babes with Bowling Balls, captained by Kristi Orvis of

Colorful Stitches team which finished 91st with 2,225 included Sharon
Levier, Nancy Harrison, Alberta Fox, Beulah Schaefer and Rennee Hall of South

local team cracked the top 100 in Division IV team. No

she finished third in Division I singles with 652. She had games of 204, 215 and

VOSS, JONES AND KULICK TO HEADLINE TEACHING CLINICS
Professional
Bowling legends and stars Norm Duke, Brian Voss, Tommy Jones and Kelly Kulick
will headline teaching clinics on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Five Star Lanes in
The four stars along with other United States Bowling Congress coaches will spend the day working with students providing basic and individualized instruction in all phases of the games including form, balance, timing, hand positions, release, adapting to changing lane conditions and more.
The cost for adults is $89, seniors 60 and over $79 and youth bowlers $69.95. Free lunch is included in price.
