NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Ralph Jennings of Detroit won his first National Senior Bowling Association title with a 236-233 triumph over Jim Magolan of Shelby Township at Superbowl Lanes in Canton .

 

Jennings qualified 10th and proceeded to win over Dick Selgo of Archbold , Ohio 226-159, Chuck Novak of New Baltimore 227-192 and John Ross Jr. of Vassar 246-217 to advance to the final match. Jennings took home the top prize of $1,000.

 

Magolan settled for $500 after qualifying 13th and beating Yves Szmansky of Garden City 227-204, Roy Sonier of Southgate 225-181, Dave Eatmon of Ferndale 211-182 and Mike Abbey of Jackson 233-227.

 

Ken Lang of Eastpointe and Ross recorded the top game of the tournament with 289. Mike McCleskey of Southfield was the top qualifier.

 

Local senior keglers who fared well were Ed Austreng of Waterford Township for $140, McCleskey $140, Eatmon $140 and Chuck Sunseri of Auburn Hills $90.

 

The next NSBA event will be a member-member doubles tournament to be held on Sept. 13 at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights .
