MDUSBC NAMES SENIOR ALL-CITY TEAMS

 

The Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) has named their senior All City teams for the 2007-08 season.

 

John Masiello of Southgate, 84 points, is appearing for the first time with a ninth place finish in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, fifth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles, third among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events, first among MDUSBC seniors in USBC Doubles with Carl Kinyon and first among MDUSBC seniors in USBC All-Events. He recorded two 300 games, one 299 game, a high series of 824 and a high average of 230.

 

The senior men’s first team was completed with Frederick Bauss III of Eastpointe (53), Larry Walker of Garden City (46), James Burton of Novi (42) and Robert Slayden Jr. of Taylor (42). Bauss, Walker and Burton earned their initial nod, while Slayden is appearing for the third time.

 

Bauss finished 24th in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, eighth among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Mark Runson, first among seniors in MDUSBC Singles, third among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events and second among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Joe Krajenke. One 298 game and a high average of 215 completed his resume.

 

Walker finished second in the MDUSBC Senior Masters, had one 300 game, one 299 game and a high average of 226.

 

Burton won the MDUSBC Senior Masters, had one 300 game and a high average of 220.

 

Slayden was third among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events in addition to one 300 game and a high average of 224.

 

Richard Beattie of Dearborn (41), Jerry Owczarski of South Lyon (39), Jeffrey Smith of Pontiac (38), Michael Thorn of Eastpointe (38) and Mitchell Jabczenski Sr. of Novi (37) rounded out the senior men’s second team. Beattie is making his sixth appearance, Owczarski third and Jabczenski fifth. Smith and Thorn are rookies.

 

Susan Szachta of Warren, with 60 points, was first among MDUSBC seniors and third overall in Michigan State Queens, third among seniors in MDUSBC Singles, 10th among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events, first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Pierette Wray, high series of 757 and high average of 216 in making her second appearance.

 

Nancy Dietrich of Clinton Township (48), Jeanesta Fossett of Livonia (45), Virginia Austin of Detroit (42), Yvonne Ogburn of Detroit (42) and Carol Davis of Lake Orion (42) completed the senior women’s first team. Dietrich, Fossett and Austin are making their first appearance, while Ogburn and Davis were named for the second time.

 

Dietrich was second among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Doubles with Carol Roberts, first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. She also had a high series of 714 and a high average of 206.

 

Fossett was first among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Virginia Austin, first among seniors in MDUSBC Singles and third among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. She had a high series of 716 and a high average of 200.

 

Austin was first among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Jeanesta Fossett, fourth in MDUSBC Singles and eighth in MDUSBC All-Events. A high series of 775 and high average of 214 completed her resume.

 

Ogburn was eighth among seniors in MDUSBC Doubles with Vanessa Horton, fifth among seniors in MDUSBC Singles and first among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events. A high average of 216, high game of 300 and high series of 801 finished her accomplishments.

 

Davis was first among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Senior Queens, ninth among seniors in MDUSBC All-Events, fourth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State Singles and fourth among MDUSBC seniors in Michigan State All-Events. She had a high game of 290, high series of 754 and high average of 203.

 

Suzann Hyvonen of St. Clair Shores (30), Ricki Schneider of Detroit (27), Sheila Temple of Romulus (25) and Gwendolyn Finley of Detroit (26) achieved senior women’s second team status. Finley earned her second nod while the others are making their initial appearance.

 

Points are tabulated on performance in the local, state and national tournaments; honor scores and league averages.
