CAN-AM BAKER DOUBLES

 

Mark Moore of Macomb and Albert Amella III of Macomb prevailed in the Can-Am Baker Doubles at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights with a 193-182 triumph over Ron Napiewocki of Roseville and Ron Carroll of Roseville .

 

The Moore-Amella duo qualified third with an eight-game total of 1,935, an average of 241 and reached the championship finals with games of 256, 233, 225, 211, 210 and 210. They split the first place prize of $1,300.

 

The Napiewocki-Carroll team qualified eighth with 1,868. In the cutdown rounds they had games of 267, 256, 285, 210, 231 and 235. They took home $700.

 

The scoring pace was quite high for the 47 teams that competed. It took an average of 226 to make the cutdown rounds.

 

Jason Neiman of Warren and Roger Folkema of Warren paced the qualifying with 1,945. The high game of 297 was recorded by Mike Calhoun of Wyandotte and Branden Dale of Eastpointe.

 

Local cashers were Dan Mayer of Waterford Township who teamed with William Stephenson of Shelby Township for $170 and David Silverman of Farmington Hills and Jeremy Mayer of Linden for $140.

 

The next Can-Am Baker Doubles will be Nov. 29 at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights .

MICHIGAN MAJORS

 

The Budweiser Michigan Majors Bowling Association will hold its 41st Annual Championship Tournament Saturday at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights .

 

The annual banquet will be held after the conclusion of competition where Troy Stus and Ken Lang will be inducted into the MMBA Hall of Fame.

 

Former champions who are scheduled to compete are Dale Hofmeister, Larry Walker, Nick Wissinger, Mike Busch, Terry Mariucci and Tom Smallwood.

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour Chameleon Championship from Taylor Lanes will be telecast this Sunday on ESPN at 1 p.m.
