BUDWEISER MICHIGAN MAJORS BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Troy Stus of South Lyon and Ken Lang of Eastpointe have been elected into the Budweiser Michigan Majors Hall of Fame to swell membership in the prestigious hall to 58.

 

Stus received 47 points and Lang 43 from the 12-man election committee. Forty-two votes were needed to election.

 

Stus, son of legendary bowler Gene Stus, joins his father in the MMBA Hall of Fame to become the first father and son in the hall. Troy Stus had been a member of the MMBA for 15 years, participating in 86 tournaments and winning four titles including the Rosebowl Open in 1989, Monitor Open in 1990 and the Tournament of Champions twice (1990 and 1994). He was the leading money winner on the circuit in 1990. Of the 86 tournaments he bowled in he cashed in 37 and made the finals 10 times. His lifetime average is 208 for 691 games. He is 52nd on the all-time money list with earnings of $12,285.

 

Lang joined the MMBA in 1976 and has been a member for 30 years. He has participated in 246 tournaments, cashing in 56 and making the finals 24 times. He has two titles to his credit and three second place finished. They are the 1978 championship and the Redford Open in 1982. His lifetime average is 207 for 1,911 games and stands 30th on the all-time money list with $18,661 in winnings.

 

Both will be honored at the MMBA championship banquet on Nov. 15 at Cherry Hill Lanes in Dearborn Heights .

BOWLING ON TV

 

For the next several days ESPN and ESPN Classic will be running one bowling show a day leading up to the Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Doubles Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 19.

 

The Chris Paul event will be telecast from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

 

The Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour will begin in earnest following the Chris Paul event with the World Championship from Wichita , Kan. and be telecast on Sunday, Oct. 26.
