NATIONAL SENIOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION

 

Roy Sonier of Southgate and John Ciantar of Monroe prevailed over Mike McCleskey of Southfield and Ralph Jennings of Detroit 233-217 in the National Senior Bowling Association Doubles at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights .

 

The Sonier/Ciantar team qualified first, which included a tournament high 299 game by Sonier. In match play they defeated Jim Burton of Novi and Mike La Rocca of New Hudson 268-162 and B.J. Galloway of Alpena and Jim Richardson of Toledo 236-210 en route to the championship match. They took home the top prize of $500 each.

 

The McCleskey/Jennings duo qualified fourth and beat Jack Dalie or Bobby Gross Jr. of Springfield , Ohio 244-204 and Dave Tulak of Taylor and Larry Walker of Garden City 234-218 on their way to the final match. They took home $250 each.

 

The Burton/LaRocca team cashed for $120 each. The other Oakland County keglers who cashed were Ken Kossick of Commerce Township and Lew Ansara of Farmington Hills for $100 each.

 

The next NSBA tournament will be Oct. 11 at Taylor Lanes in Taylor .
