MMBA DOUBLES

 

Nunzio Marino of Livonia and George Gohagan of Dayton , Ohio successfully defended their Budweiser Michigan Majors Bowling Association Doubles title with a 257-194 triumph over Craig Nidiffer of Trenton and Michael Norris Jr. of Livonia at Lodge Lanes in Belleville .

 

The Marino-Gohagan duo split $1,800 for their victory after securing the top seed for the stepladder finals with three game sets of 753 and 757 in the semi-final qualifying round.

 

The Nidiffer-Norris Jr. team settled for $1,000 after qualifying fourth and beating Kurt Pilon of Warren and Kerry Kreft of Warren 222-218 and Terry Haines of Whitmore Lake and Jeff Roche of Dearborn 264-219.

 

The Kreft-Pilon duo began the stepladder finals with a 263-249 win over Ken Wyatt of Sterling Heights and Eddie Grace of Howell.

 

Haines-Roche cashed for $900, Kreft-Pilon $800 and Wyatt-Grace for $700.

 

Local cashers included Jeff Grego of Waterford Township who teamed up with Art Brown of Lansing to split $500 and Lee Snow of Wixom and Ryan Wilson of Garden City who earned $300.
