SUPER SENIOR MASTERS
The
Metro Detroit USBC Association (MDUSBC) will host the Super Senior Masters on
Nov. 7-8 at Universal Lanes in
Any
member of the MDUSBC who is at least 60 years of age as of Nov. 7 is eligible
for the scratch event.
Qualifying
will be contested on Nov. 7 with each bowler bowling a five-game qualifier.
There will be two squads of qualifying.
Match
play will be on Nov. 8 in a single-game double-elimination format.
A
separate special event for non-qualifiers 70 years and older will be conducted
on Nov. 8.
First
place will pay $1,000 based on 64 entries with 16th place paying
$100.
The
entry fee cost is $100 per bowler. There are still limited spots available.
Some
notable entrants already entered are 1998 Masters champion, 1999 and 2000 Senior
Masters champion and defending champion Doug Evans of Southgate; 2007 Super
Senior Masters champion John Ross Jr. of Vassar; 2005 Senior Masters champion Ed
Austreng of Waterford Township; 1974, 1980 and 1981 Masters champion Dick
Beattie of Dearborn; 1977 Masters and 2004 Senior Masters champion John Bennett
of Clarkston; 1997 and 2002 Masters champion Ken Kossick of Commerce Township;
1978 Masters and 2003 Senior Masters champion Fred McClain of Allen Park; and
1996 and 2002 Senior Masters champion Harley Trumbull Jr. of New
