SENIOR MASTERS
The
Metro Detroit USBC Association Senior Masters tournament qualifying and first
rounds of match play wrapped up at Indian Lanes in
Fred
Bauss of Eastpointe, Rick Capaldi of
Bauss
qualified 27th with a six-game total of 1,337. In match play he
remained undefeated with wins over defending champion Larry Walker of Garden
City 483-460, Richard Maruszczak of
Capaldi
was the top qualifier with 1,468 and beat Nick Cipiti of
Planko
stayed alive with victories over Mitch Jabczenski Sr. of Novi 408-363, Steven
Hubble of
Silverman
beat Larry Best of Brownstown 428-427, Rick Faber of Warren 493-437 and Robert
Caliguire of Wyandotte 537-400 after qualifying 31st with 1,333.
Alive
in the loser’s bracket are Tim Magyar, Robert Caliguire, Nick Cipiti and Harry
Sullins.
Top
qualifier Capaldi bowled 1,468 on games of 268,201,290, 238, 245 and 226.
In
qualifying Larry Best and Fred Randall of
The
153-player field averaged 206.1, with the top 32 finalists averaging 236.
The
final rounds of match play begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Indian Lanes.
